Who
are typical clients of a Professional
Organizer? --
Individuals of all ages, some struggling with major life-changing
situations --
Small businesses, including start-ups --
Large companies, some dealing with new growth or
down-sizing --
Non-profit organizations, large and small
Which
areas of my life will benefit from a Professional
Organizer? -- All areas ... both
professional and personal ... in your office and
home --
Management of your space, time, projects, paperwork and
resources --
Confidentiality and reliability are guaranteed by established
professionals
Do
you organize without clients being present or require them to be
involved during appointments? --The
best way we can serve each client, teach techniques, and create
"personalized" systems is when they participate in the
process.
Do
you personally work with clients, bring assistants, or send
associate organizers? --Yes,
all of the above -- whatever matches the needs of our
clients.
Is
a Professional Organizer willing to travel? --
Usually, yes ... Of course, travel expenses apply in long
distance situations --
Some do not ... however, referrals to colleagues in your area may be
available
Where
and how will I receive a Professional Organizer's
help? --
During on-site consultations, hands-on sessions and private phone
coaching --
Referrals are offered for services outside our expertise (software
trainers, etc.)
What
are the benefits of hiring a Professional Organizing
Service? --
Personalized systems are designed for your own specific needs and
personality --
Solutions for problem areas are recommended --
Procedures are developed to increase productivity,
cost-effectiveness and control --
Techniques are taught to help you become and stay
organized --
Chaos, clutter, waste, overwhelm and stress are
reduced --
Balance, peace of mind and freedom become a part of your life every
day
What
are your fees? --
Our
fees do vary depending on what the service is and if we can do the
work from home or if we are going to be working with you on site.
One thing I can assure you of is that we will never waste your time
or your money. If there is a way we can save you money, we will let
you know. Our fees are on the average but when it comes to
choosing an organizer, you should consider more than just the
fee.
-- Established
professionals' rates reflect a high level of experience,
specialties, locale, years in business and amount of training in
this specific profession. --
Plan to pay for organizing services at the end of each day's
appointment -- Note:
organizers aren't cleaning services and cleaning services don't
organize. -- Be
Specific about your needs when you contact us for a price
rate.
Do
Professional Organizers provide on-going
services? --
Yes, most offer "maintenance" appointments --
Weekly, monthly, quarterly and semi-annual "tune-ups" can be
scheduled
What
organizing supplies and containers should I
buy? --
In
many instances, you already own what you need. We will assist you in
learning how to use your supplies differently. When you do not, we
will determine what the right product is. We will work together to
determine how to get the products if you need to make a purchase.
Appropriate products from well-known distributors will be
recommended.
How
should I prepare before an
appointment? --
No need to "clean-up" ... your Professional Organizer needs to see
and understand
your specific problem areas and goals --
Buy or gather up only the recommended supplies
--
Be ready to make decisions ... and fulfill commitments you made to
yourself --
Be patient ... letting go is never easy, but it's necessary
sometimes
How long
will it take to get my home or office completely
organized? --
This depends on many factors, such as ... --
how long did it take for this space to become
disorganized? --
how quickly can you make decisions? --
how big is your project (number of rooms, types of systems
needed)? --
how much clutter is in your rooms (visible and
invisible)? --
are you committed to making changes and investing in this
project? --
how much are you willing to do yourself when we are not
there? --
are you willing to work with one or more of our Staff
Organizers? --
Plan to schedule "tune-up" appointments -- keep positive momentum
flowing --
Remember: Organizing is a process, it's not just a one day
job.
Do
I need to be a neat freak to be
organized? While
you can certainly be neat and be organized, the two terms should
never be confused with each other. While you might have neat piles,
or neat boxes piled one on top of the other, or objects lined up
neatly in a straight line, you may still not be able to find a
single thing when you need it. Being organized means you're using a
structured system that allows you to find everything you need when
you need it, and you get everything done when it's due--without
frustration, chaos or stress.
I
am embarrassed to have you come over, my place is so
messy!? This
is a very important and sensitive issue for many people, even
preventing some (would that be you?) from really benefiting from our
services. Almost everyone who contacts us has some sort of shame or
embarrassment about their situation, or they wouldn't be
calling.
We
understand the pain and frustration of living and working in an
environment that is not supportive or reflective of whom you want to
be, and that is why we became Professional Organizers. Organizing
can actually be fun, when you know that someone is there on your
team. The relief of having a place for everything that makes sense
to you is worth the effort put into the project, large or
small.
First
off, we have been in a lot of people's homes and offices, and have
seen a lot of clutter. Chances are, we have seen a lot worse than
what you have in your situation. When we come to see you, we don't
look with a critical or judgmental eye, but rather with an eye for
how to tackle the challenge. We enjoy helping people feel relief
when a room, closet, or an entire house begins to emerge from the
mess.
Why
am I so hesitant to hire someone to help
me? In
the United
States we have a very strong
do-it-yourself mentality. Our experience in talking with people who
have decided to do it themselves is: a ) It doesn't get done at all,
or b) It takes an excruciatingly long time for movement to take
place, or c) there are some significant bad feelings and resentments
that develop in the house as loved ones try to work together. Often
our relatives and best friends are too close to the situation, too
vested in the results to be non-judgmental
assistants.
We
can tell you that working with a professional is much more fun,
quicker, and you get more results. And don't worry, we give you a
list of to-do items at each meeting, so you'll have as much or as
little opportunity as you like to do-it-yourself after each
session!
Will
you make me "super clean"? While
you can be both organized and clean, you should not confuse the two.
Cleaning means that you're removing dirt, grime and otherwise
prepare a surface to be sanitary. But, you can have the cleanest
home or office on the block, and still be
disorganized.
What
is coaching? Athletes
and performers are not the only ones who benefit from the expertise
of a Coach. For your office or home, an "Organizing Coach" will
empower you and help you focus on your goals step-by-step.
Newsweek:
Need a Life? Get a Coach, February 5, 1996 describes coaching best.
"Part consultant, part motivational speaker, part therapist and part
rent-a-friend, coaches work with managers, entrepreneurs and just
plain folks, helping them define and achieve their goals -- career,
personal or, most often, both."
Coaching
is a one-on-one, ongoing, confidential relationship between the
coach and the client. Clients come to coaches wanting change and
balance among the many activities and roles of their lives. These
individuals are eager to move to a higher level of functioning and
are seeking a coach to assist them in focusing, developing
strategies, and learning new skills to achieve that goal. Just as a
swimming coach encourages, teaches, and helps the swimmer stay
focused on peak performance, the professional coach encourages,
focuses, and requests proactive behavior from the client to move
toward achieving their vision, goals, or purpose. Coaching assists
the client in developing their own talents.
